What you will enjoy doing
- As legal business partner in charge, you act as trusted advisor for the functions Energy Procurement, Operations Bulk & Onsite, Business Management, Productivity & Procurement and SHEQ, supporting their core teams and remote operations centers and enabling sound business decisions
- In close collaboration with German and European energy, operations and procurement teams, as well as regional management and the legal function, you actively contribute to strategic and operational initiatives on industrial and technical projects/developments
- You are an integral member of the Global Law Department, the EMEA Legal Team and the relevant (Energy) Procurement, Operations & Services Management Teams
- With your focus on energy law and based on your related expertise, you handle hands-on a wide range of European, German and national Energy and Climate Change law matters, including emissions trading schemes, CCS/CCU projects, electrolysis initiatives and other elements of European and German decarbonization strategies
- Together with local and specialist counsels (inhouse and external) across EMEA, you draft, comment and review (in particular energy related) procurement and sales contracts (including onsite gas supply agreements) under various European legal frameworks, covering exiting topics such as Green/Low Carbon Hydrogen, Carbon Capture Storage/Utilization, ammonia back-cracking, decarbonization and industrial applications
- Depending on capacity and personal interests, you may also provide legal support in operational matters, general procurement, Safety, Health, Environment & Quality, regulatory topics, litigation etc.
What makes you great
- You bring relevant qualification as (inhouse) legal counsel, including a lawyer's practicing certificate, a legal bachelor or master (eg Diplomjurist / Wirtschaftsjurist) and practically related energy law/regulatory experience, preferably from within Germany
- Additional qualifications in other European jurisdictions or relevant regulatory/public law expertise or a EU level is a plus
You have profound knowledge of European and German laws, in particular energy and environmental laws, and specialist experience in related administrative processes and in dealing with relevant authorities and procedures - Furthermore you have at least 5+years' post qualification/graduation experience in the relevant areas, out of which at least 2 years of relevant expertise in a comparable in-house role, an energy consultancy/auditor, in a law firm or with an energy related public authority
- Strong industry understanding in the energy sector is essential, and knowledge of chemical or industrial gas environments will further strengthen your profile
- In addition you posses experience, ability and desire to work in cross-functional and trans-national teams
You have strong time management skills and ability to prioritize - Finally, you demonstrate excellent communication skills in both English and German (e.g. for dealing with German authority requests), combined with strong prioritization abilities and a proactive, solution driven mindset
