The Team
Our Global Legal team provides key support for all TikTok's innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global video market. We enable our technology and business teams' vision through integrated legal guidance and support.
The Role
The Global Litigation & Antitrust team, a global subject matter expertise team within the Global Legal group, handles contentious matters involving TikTok and related businesses in all regions in which TikTok operates. We are looking for an experienced, bright and capable lawyer to join our team managing litigation and disputes throughout a large portion of the world covering Europe, Middle East and Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
– Handle general litigation, pre-litigation claims, regulatory appeals and all related matters.
– Manage all aspects of matters including pre-action correspondence, submissions, e-discovery, fact-finding and analysis, witness preparation, case management conferences, interim applications, and ADR or trial preparation .
– Supervise and partner with outside counsel to ensure that all aspects of the company's legal representation are of the highest quality, including the day-to-day running of matters, overall strategy, written work, and oral advocacy.
– Identify potential litigation risk and counsel the business to minimise exposure.
– Work and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
– Support the company's strategy for litigation and, where applicable, regulatory matters.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
– Lawyer qualified in Germany with experience in litigation either in-house or at a law firm.
– Experience in handling, and able to demonstrate a strong understanding of, one or more of the following: content litigation, data privacy litigation and/or IP litigation.
– Have a highly collaborative working style and strong interpersonal skills.
– Strong ability to work as a team player who can effectively collaborate with colleagues from across the Global Legal team, other internal stakeholders, and convey complex legal issues clearly and succinctly.
– Be passionate about the law and have attention to detail, while also being pragmatic and commercial. – Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity.
– Ability to manage a large number and variety of projects.
– Be a native German speaker, with fluency in English and with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
– Background in consumer-facing technology or media and/or experience in this area from private practice.
– Experience of working in-house
– Experience of working for an international business.
– Experience in tech and media regulation relevant to the DACH market including content, data privacy and consumer regulations.
– Ability to work in another European language (other than English and German).
